Biography

Teddy Crawford ranks with the growing number of Composer/Performer whose concert program reflects a diversity of musical styles and influences. Recipient of the 2012 Caribbean Heritage Award in music,Teddy is now in his 30th. year as vocalist/guitarist with world-famous Jamaican Folk Singers,honing his skills and mastery of the mento rhythms under the guidance of Dr. Olive Lewin.

Teddy has toured,performed and done workshops in Jamaica,The Bahamas, The Cayman Islands and Martinique. In the USA at the Kennedy Center, W.H.O Headquarters in Washington DC, and the University of South Carolina. In England, live broadcasts from the BBC, at Westminster Abbey, The Commonwealth Institute, West Indian Cultural Centre and other venues in and outside of London. In South Africa, the group won Double gold Awards at The International Eisteddfod.

Teacher employed at the NYC Dept. of Education.

Listed among the leading guitar instructors in Tri-State Area.

Teddy is Founder / Director of Continuing Adult Music USA teaches private guitar lessons.

Teaches guitar at Hunter and Lehman College Continuing education dept. since 1998

Founded "COMBINE - ARTS EVENTS"….a concept that presents multiple genres side-by-side in a single program.

With a Masters Degree in Music Composition, Teddy has composed for Solo guitar, guitar/flute, voice/percussion/flute string quartet, and other instrumental combinations.

Has written a number of novels fiction: (action/thrillers) and non-fiction ;exploring publishing options.
